Welcome to Biology and IB Biology!
I wish to acknowledge and honor the Indigenous communities native to this region, and recognize that Roosevelt High School and all Minneapolis Public Schools were built on homelands and resources of indigenous people. I recognize the Anishinabe and Dakota people as past, present, and future caretakers of this land as well as People who have and will continue to be important contributors to this land and our greater society.
This is my eleventh year to teach at Roosevelt and I love being a part of the Roosevelt community.
I earned my B.S. in biology at the University of Washington in Seattle,WA and received my M.Ed. from the University of Minnesota.
I have had many fun science jobs, including tracking orcas in the Salish Sea, surveying trees in Washington state forests, and collecting and growing cells as part of a team studying colon and pancreatic cancer. I even have a cell line named after me!
I live in the Roosevelt neighborhood and have two sons in college in Colorado and Washington.

Hello everybody,
2022-2023 was my 1st year teaching in Minneapolis but I am going on my 5th year of teaching science here in Minnesota. I am super excited to be here and teaching freshman physical science!
I was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. From there, I moved to Minneapolis and have been living here ever since.
If you see me outside of school, it probably is playing various games, swimming, hiking, or meeting up with friends. I can’t wait to get to know you over this school year!

Taylor Reigstad
Welcome to Ms. Reigstad’s teaching page!

I started working at Roosevelt High School in 2019.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Metropolitan State University and Master of Arts degree in Teaching - Secondary Science from Concordia University Chicago. I became a teacher in Chicago but journeyed back home in 2019. I have taught AP Biology, IB Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology and Oceanography.
Courses taught at RHS: IB Biology Yr 1 & Yr 2 and MYP Biology. Please visit me in room 253!
What is biology?
Biology is the study of living things. In high school biology class, you learn about the main ideas of modern biology including cells, DNA, immune system, genetics, evolution, and ecology.
◈Inclusion Practices:
I will work with all students to help them be successful in my class, including providing multiple levels of instruction and activities and following all modifications and accommodations.
◈OUR LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT STATEMENT:
The land that surrounds us is part of who we are; it reflects our histories. We acknowledge the Indigenous homelands that our school and city is built on. Land acknowledgement is only one small part of supporting Indigenous communities. We hope our land acknowledgment statement will inspire others to stand with us in solidarity with Native nations.

I joined Roosevelt in 2025 after 20+ years in Saint Paul Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher and Educational Assistant. I have a B.A. in English from Augustana University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University; my teaching license is in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders through University of St. Thomas. My hobbies include gardening, reading, writing, traveling and sewing. I also love hanging with my family— my husband is a math teacher and my two kids are future Teddies!

I am from White Earth. I teach at Roosevelt in the Resource/Math program. I obtained my undergraduate degree at The University of Minnesota in Applied Economics with a Natural Resource and Environmental Emphasis, and I finished my Masters degree in Special Education - Autism Spectrum Disorders from The University of St. Thomas. I truly enjoy each day I am teaching here at Roosevelt. There is just something special about the students here that make each day amazing.
I have two boys that are currently in college at St. Cloud State University and The University of Minnesota. I also have a little kitty named "Kittie." My favorite thing in the world is coffee. I also love being outside doing things like hiking, camping, biking, swimming, riding rollercoasters or even alpine skiing (I love the thrill of speed!). I love to try new foods, but the best thrill is when a student all of a sudden understands a complex math problem.
